Sir Ramble opened for Kitty, Daisy & Lewis

The night opened with Sir Ramble, otherwise known as Jack Flanagan: upright bassist in the headliner’s band, husband of Kitty and former bassist of the British indie rock band Mystery Jets.  He steps out front alone, accompanying himself on acoustic guitar. Flanagan had a commanding stage presence and a great voice, not to mention his humor. Each song is introduced with a short story related to its lyrics. We hear “Like a Snake in a Zoo”, “Life Is Really Long”, “High Street” and “Big 55”, a great warm-up for the night. Solo acoustic openers often struggle to win over a crowd that is still finding its place, but Sir Ramble has the audience’s full attention from the first song.
