Koen Vael Sets the Tone with an Intimate Acoustic Opening
Koen Vael is a young, rising country artist from the small town of Steenbergen in North Brabant, Netherlands. He opened the evening with a solo acoustic set, performing a selection of his own songs, including “Good As Gone”, “Steady On The Gun”, “Blue Motel No. 9” and “Hate Me.”
Vael also added a couple of mood-lifting covers to his set, including Don Williams’ “Tulsa Time” and the Charlie Daniels Band’s “Long Haired Country Boy.” The familiar songs helped loosen the atmosphere and gave the audience an immediate connection with the young performer.
There was some slight initial nervousness on stage, but Vael gradually warmed to the audience as the set progressed. By the later songs, he appeared increasingly comfortable and confident, allowing his personality and musicianship to come through.
He also had an opportunity to demonstrate his guitar skills with an extended acoustic solo, providing a strong reminder that Vael is not only developing as a singer and songwriter but is also a capable guitarist.
