Audrey Horne Kick Off Their European Tour in Cologne with a Night of Pure Hard Rock
Gebäude 9, Cologne, October 8, 2026
Audrey Horne opened their European tour at Gebäude 9 with a high-energy show. The band hadn’t visited Cologne since 2018, when they played the Jungle Club, which has since closed its doors.
The Norwegian hard rock band draws heavily on Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne, Deep Purple and Kiss, which fits the crowd it attracts: a mostly middle-aged audience that grew up on the classic rock of the 70s and 80s.
The live sound is heavily guitar-driven, but the vocals cut through the mix and push the songs forward without getting buried. “This Is War”, “ Animal”, “Break Out”, “Redemption Blues” and “Pretty Little Sunshine” just o name a few all stood out along with new songs like “Hell Is Eternity”,”Insanity” and “Hell Is Eternity” from the newly released album ”Achiles”.
Back-to-back solos and big choruses to sing along to: this was a full-fledged rock show, and one of those nights that recall the heyday of hard rock, when good songs could turn a club into a party. As if the atmosphere weren’t already boiling, frontman Torkjell “Toschie” Rød climbed down from the stage together with guitarist Arve “Ice Dale” Isdal and played in the middle of the crowd, turning the floor into part of the stage.
Support came from Motorowl, a German heavy metal and psychedelic progressive rock band from Thuringia. Their 45-minute set blended the crushing riffs and atmosphere of doom metal with 1970s-style analog synth textures, gloomy post-rock soundscapes and driving melodies. The band spent most of the set shrouded in heavy stage smoke, which matched the mood of the music.
