Cologne, September 22, 2026 – Mike + The Mechanics were formed in 1985 and have evolved throughout their more than 40-year history. Originally conceived as a “side project” for Mike Rutherford alongside Genesis, the band has released some of the most beloved songs of a generation—including “The Living Years,” “All I Need Is A Miracle,” and “Over My Shoulder”—and has always been an impressive and acclaimed live act.

After a hiatus between 2005 and 2010, Mike decided to revive the band, driven by an insatiable hunger to perform and create music. He assembled an entirely new lineup—featuring Andrew Roachford, Tim Howar, Luke Juby, Anthony Drennan, and Gary Wallis—which has largely formed the heart and core of the Mechanics ever since.
Creative chemistry clicked shortly after they began playing together; in 2011, they released the album *The Road* and embarked on their first tour. To date, they have played an incredible 374 concerts together and released three albums, two of which reached the UK Top 10. Since Nic Collins joined the band on drums for the “Refuelled!” tour (filling in for Gary Wallis), they have continued to deliver phenomenal performances tour after tour. *The Telegraph* awarded their recent show at the Royal Albert Hall four out of five stars, noting that they “brought the house down” and were “on fire,” while the *Northern Echo* simply described their Newcastle performance as an “exemplary display.”
Mike Rutherford says: “When we started talking about this tour, I realized that the core of this lineup is the longest-serving group of musicians in The Mechanics’ history! The fact that we are touring again is a true testament to the talent of Roach, Tim, Luke, and Anthony—they are wonderful musicians and wonderful people. Plus, the way Nic has integrated into the band has not only significantly lowered the group’s average age but also brought a whole new energy that really rounds everything off!
