Five computer science students looking for a distraction from their coursework—the origin story of Good Kid doesn’t exactly fit the mold of a classic band formation. Yet, that is precisely how the Canadian indie-pop-punk quintet met, quickly discovering a shared love for danceable, upbeat indie and J-rock tracks. The group’s sound hovers somewhere between indie rock, J-rock, pop-punk, and surf rock, drawing influence from bands such as Two Door Cinema Club and Bloc Party. Fans have had a long wait for a debut album, but the moment is finally approaching: Good Kid has announced their first LP, *Can We Hang Out Sometime?*, for April 3, 2026. Naturally, a debut album like this demands to be performed live. Following their initial German shows nearly two years ago—which sold out in advance—the band will return to Germany during their European tour next autumn, playing two concerts in Cologne and Hamburg.
