Loreena McKennitt – The Mask and The Mirror – 30th Anniversary Tour

For over three decades, Canadian artist Loreena McKennitt has explored the diverse facets of Celtic music—a unique blend of folklore, world music, and pop. With seemingly effortless grace, she combines instrumental and vocal perfection with deep emotion to create a soundscape that captivates the listener. This passionate globetrotter will embark on a European tour in the spring of 2027. From March 3 to 23, the acclaimed performer will visit Germany and Austria, with scheduled concerts in Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Hanover, Bremen, Mannheim, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Zwickau, Leipzig, Berlin, Vienna, Munich, and Nuremberg.

The upcoming tour focuses on her seminal album, *The Mask and The Mirror*, alongside other fan favorites. Loreena McKennitt will be accompanied on this tour by five long-time musical collaborators: Caroline Lavelle (cello), Brian Hughes (guitar), Hugh Marsh (violin), Dudley Phillips (bass), and Robert Brian (drums). The first half of the evening will feature her most popular songs, while the second half will present *The Mask and The Mirror* in the original track order of the 1994 release.

Loreena McKennitt explains that with *The Mask and The Mirror*, she followed “paths of inspiration” and explored “essential human questions” regarding the existence of God, religion, and spirituality. “What was revealed and what remained hidden? What was the mask and what was the mirror? We are delighted to return to Europe for another chapter, and we can hardly wait to see everyone again and share our music.”

Her acclaimed performances combine music and storytelling, all inspired by Loreena McKennitt’s exotic exploration of Celtic history. Songs are thus paired with mystical Irish poems by Yeats and Keats, as well as texts by classic writers such as Shakespeare and Tennyson. An atmosphere of intimacy, interwoven with personal and inspiring storytelling, defines Loreena McKennitt’s concerts. Her hallmarks remain her crystal-clear soprano voice and her versatility as an instrumentalist on the harp, piano, and bandoneon.

Loreena McKennitt has sold over 14 million albums worldwide, with more than 1.6 million of those sold in Germany—an astonishing triumph of musical poetry. Her recordings have achieved gold, platinum, and multi-platinum status in 15 countries across four continents. She has received two Grammy nominations and won two Canadian Juno Awards as well as the Billboard International Achievement Award.

As a musical ambassador, she has represented Canada around the globe, composed film scores, and performed at countless major festivals. In 1985, she used her savings to produce her first album and establish her own record label. As one of the few truly independent artists, she has since maintained sole control over the song selection, production, design, and distribution of her work.
