Catchy, socially critical, and political: Yard Act combine a multitude of qualities in their unique sound—one that clearly sets them apart from contemporary post-punk bands thanks to frontman James Smith’s spoken-word lyrics.
Launched by four pub friends just before the pandemic, Yard Act quickly made their mark beyond their English homeland despite the odds: they won the ANCHOR Award at the Reeperbahn Festival in 2021, followed by the release of their debut album and, two years later, their sophomore record. Both LPs garnered worldwide critical acclaim, earning the band—among other achievements—a collaboration with pop legend Elton John, a spot on the BBC’s “One to Watch” list, a support tour with The Hives, and headline shows across the globe.
